Ready for the Return of Jesus Christ?
1) Are we proudly practicing eastern religions?
O house of Jacob,
come and let us walk in the light of the LORD. For You have forsaken
Your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with eastern
ways; They are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they are pleased
with the children of foreigners. Their land is also full of silver and
gold, and there is no end to their treasures; Their land is also full
of horses, and there is no end to their chariots. Their land is also
full of idols; They worship the work of their own hands, that which
their own fingers have made. People bow down, and each man humbles
himself; Therefore, do not forgive them. Enter into the rock, and hide
in the dust, from the terror of the LORD and the glory of His majesty.
The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, the haughtiness of men shall
be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. For the
day of the LORD of hosts shall come upon everything proud and lofty,
upon everything lifted up — and it shall be brought low — Upon all the
cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of
Bashan; Upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are
lifted up; Upon every high tower, and upon every fortified wall; Upon
all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all the beautiful sloops. The
loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall
be brought low; The LORD alone will be exalted in that day, but the
idols He shall utterly abolish. They shall go into the holes of the
rocks, and into the caves of the earth, from the terror of the LORD and
the glory of His majesty, when He arises to shake the earth mightily.
In that day a man will cast away his idols of silver and his idols of
gold, which they made, each for himself to worship, to the moles and
bats, to go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the crags of the
rugged rocks, from the terror of the LORD and the glory of His majesty,
when He arises to shake the earth mightily. Sever yourselves from such
a man, whose breath is in his nostrils; For of what account is he?
Isaiah 2:5-22
2) Have we called upon the name of the LORD?
And I will show
wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of
smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood,
before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD. And it
shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be
saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance,
as the LORD has said, among the remnant whom the LORD calls. Joel
2:30-32
3) All nations will gather against Israel at the end of time.
Behold, the day of
the LORD is coming, and your spoil will be divided in your midst. For I
will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall
be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the city
shall go into captivity, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut
off from the city. Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those
nations, as He fights in the day of battle. And in that day His feet
will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west,
making a very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move toward the
north and half of it toward the south. Then you shall flee through My
mountain valley, for the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you
shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king
of Judah. Thus, the LORD my God will come, and all the saints with You.
It shall come to pass in that day that there will be no light; The
lights will diminish. It shall be one day which is known to the LORD —
Neither day nor night. But at evening time it shall happen that it will
be light. Zechariah 14:1-7
4) Are we proudly doing evil?
“For behold, the day
is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud, yes, all who do
wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them
up,” says the LORD of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor
branch. But to you who fear My name the Sun of Righteousness shall
arise with healing in His wings; And you shall go out and grow fat like
stall-fed calves. You shall trample the wicked, for they shall be ashes
under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,” says the LORD
of hosts. Malachi 4:1-3
5) No one knows when Jesus Christ will return.
“But of that day and
hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man
be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the
ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so
also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then two men will be in the
field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding
at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for
you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if
the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he
would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.
Therefore, you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour
you do not expect. Matthew 24:36-44
6) Do we know Jesus Christ?
“Then the kingdom of
heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went
out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were
foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with
them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But
while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. And at
midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to
meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And
the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps
are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should
not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy
for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and
those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was
shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, Lord, Lord, open
to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not
know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour
in which the Son of Man is coming.” Matthew 25:1-13
7) Are we watching for the return of Jesus Christ?
“But of that day and
hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only
the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the
time is. It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house
and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded
the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the
master of the house is coming — in the evening, at midnight, at the
crowing of the rooster, or in the morning — lest, coming suddenly, he
find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” Mark
13:32-37
8) Are we ready for the return of Jesus Christ?
“Let your waist be
girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait
for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he
comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. Blessed are those
servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly,
I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat
and will come and serve them. And if he should come in the second
watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those
servants. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what
hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his
house to be broken into. Therefore, you also be ready, for the Son of
Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” Luke 12:35-40
9) Let us put off revelry, drunkenness, lewdness, lust, strife and envy.
And do this, knowing
the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our
salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far
spent, the day is at hand. Therefore, let us cast off the works of
darkness and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as
in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust,
not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no
provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Romans 13:11-14
10) Are we eagerly waiting for the revelation of Jesus Christ?
I thank my God always
concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ
Jesus, that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and
all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, so
that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of
our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm you to the end, that you
may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful,
by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ
our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:4-9
11) Are we conducting ourselves in simplicity and godly sincerity?
For our boasting is
this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in
the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom
but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you. For we are not
writing any other things to you than what you read or understand. Now I
trust you will understand, even to the end (as also you have understood
us in part), that we are your boast as you also are ours, in the day of
the Lord Jesus. 2 Corinthians 1:12-14
12) Are we living with faith, love, and hope in Jesus Christ?
But concerning the
times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write
to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord
comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!”
then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant
woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in
darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all
sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of
darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch
and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get
drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober,
putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope
of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain
salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether
we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. 1 Thessalonians
5:1-10
13) Do we believe in and glorify Jesus Christ?
We are bound to thank
God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith
grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward
each other, so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God
for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations
that you endure, which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment
of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which
you also suffer; since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with
tribulation those who trouble you, and to give you who are troubled
rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His
mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not
know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus
Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the
presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, when He comes, in
that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all
those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed. 2
Thessalonians 1:3-10
14) Are we restraining evil with the love of the truth?
Now, brethren,
concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering
together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled,
either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the
day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that
Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of
sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself
above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as
God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Do you not
remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And
now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own
time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who
now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the
lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the
breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. The
coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with
all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception
among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the
truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them
strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be
condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in
unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12
15) Are we fighting the good fight and keeping the faith?
For I am already
being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is
at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have
kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of
righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on
that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His
appearing. 2 Timothy 4:6-8
16) Are we holding fast our confession in Jesus Christ?
Therefore, brethren,
having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new
and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is,
His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw
near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts
sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure
water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering,
for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in
order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of
ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one
another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews
10:19-25
17) Ready to see our salvation revealed in the last time?
Blessed be the God
and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant
mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection
of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and
undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who
are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be
revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5
18) Ungodly people will mock believers in the last days.
Beloved, I now write
to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds
by way of reminder), that you may be mindful of the words which were
spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the
apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing this first: that scoffers will
come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and
saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell
asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of
creation.” For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the
heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the
water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded
with water. But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by
the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and
perdition of ungodly men. 2 Peter 3:1-7
19) Have we left our love for Jesus Christ? Ephesians 6:24
“To the angel of the
church of Ephesus write, ‘These things says He who holds the seven
stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden
lampstands: I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you
cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they
are apostles and are not and have found them liars; and you have
persevered and have patience and have labored for My name’s sake and
have not become weary. Nevertheless, I have this against you, that you
have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have
fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you
quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.’”
Revelation 2:1-5
20) Jesus Christ hates clergy who advocate for idolatry and gay love.
“And to the angel of
the church in Pergamos write, ‘These things says He who has the sharp
two-edged sword: “I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s
throne is. And you hold fast to My name and did not deny My faith even
in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed
among you, where Satan dwells. But I have a few things against you,
because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who
taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to
eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. Thus,
you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which
thing I hate. Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight
against them with the sword of My mouth.”’” Revelation 2:12-16
21) Have we repented of bad works? John 6:29
“And to the angel of
the church in Sardis write, ‘These things says He who has the seven
Spirits of God and the seven stars: “I know your works, that you have a
name that you are alive, but you are dead. Be watchful, and strengthen
the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found
your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how you have received
and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore, if you do not watch, I will
come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come
upon you.”’” Revelation 3:1-3
22) Perseverance in faith will keep us from the wrath of God.
“And to the angel of
the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He
who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one
shuts, and shuts and no one opens: I know your works. See, I have set
before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little
strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. Indeed, I
will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and
are not, but lie — indeed I will make them come and worship before your
feet, and to know that I have loved you. Because you have kept My
command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which
shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
Behold, I am coming quickly! Revelation 3:7-11
23) We need Jesus Christ and must open our hearts to Him.
“And to the angel of
the church of the Laodiceans write, these things says the Amen, the
Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: I know
your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or
hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I
will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have
become wealthy, and have need of nothing’— and do not know that you are
wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked — I counsel you to buy from
Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments,
that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be
revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As
many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore, be zealous and repent.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and
opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with
Me.” Revelation 3:14-20
24) Are we keeping Scripture alive in our hearts?
Then he said to me,
“These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the holy
prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must
shortly take place. “Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who
keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” Revelation 22:6-7
